Future fullback?

Fullbacks are needed in Paul Chryst's offense and he doesn't have many right now.  That may change in the future as Ohio State's David Durham is visiting Pitt today.  He is a redshirt freshman so if he transfers to Pitt he would lose his sophomore year and would have just two years of eligibility left.

Durham, who is 6'1" and 245 pounds, was a defensive player in high school, playing linebacker and defensive end.  But he wanted to get more playing time for the Buckeyes so he asked to be moved to fullback.

Originally from Charlotte, NC, he spent most of his teen years in Austin, TX before moving back to Charlotte to graduate.  He has family in Pittsburgh.

  1. So does that mean he would be eligible to play right away?

  2. Guess I cant blame him. I dont ever remember seeing Urban Meyer use a fullback!! Sort of the same situation that Henry was in last year. Luckily for him he did some hole blasting for Stache and was a known commodity! By the way, you can see him having a pretty decent rookie year on tv Sunday with New York (football) Giants!!!

  3. All state wrestler? They tend to make really good middle linebackers.. which looks like it might be a need, more so than fullback, IMHO.

  5. Wisky used a lot of one-back sets last year. REALLY hope that continues at Pitt with Chryst. You need a FB for goal line stuff but I dont want to see it 80-90% of the time like the wanny years.

  6. This would be a steal for Pitt. If you are going to play smash mouth you need a great fullback.

  7. PK - we have two FBs on the roster now but they are unproven. Mark Giubilato is one and he may be in the mix. Chris Mike has already played FB in some games and I think he may be looking at playing time also.

  8. Chris, has there been word on any possible qb prospects for this year or 2013? even with voytik that's a position of need.

  9. I don't know who they will target specifically yet but there's no doubt that they will go after at least one QB. To be honest, they could use two next year.
