Desmond Robinson named RB coach

Panther alum Desmond Robinson has been named the RB coach.  Robinson, a native of Atlanta, was a linebacker and defensive end at Pitt and played in the 1976 National Championship Game.  The 55-year old spent most of his career as a defensive coach, but most recently coached running backs at Notre Dame, West Virginia,  and Syracuse.

  1. Hi Chris,

Do you know where he'll be assigned to recruit? What's his track record in recruiting for ND, the Hoopies, and 'Cuse?

  3. im fine with the bollinger hire and i really like robinson hire.

im also not worried about defense. huxtable coached up usfs defense to be top 15 in his tenure there, top ten in 08 i think?, and thats in the c usa, where everybody runs the spread and is focused on scoring. im also curious, though, how well certain coaches will be able to recruit, ie breckterfield, bollinger, robinson.

  4. chris dokish: scout reporting that pitt just offered LA dt marquel combs, JC. does pitt have a shot? how interested is he?

hes 6'4" 305 and has a sub 5 second 40. sounds like a good athlete. adding some d lineman is cruicial for pitt.

  5. Not a bad hire by the numbers. But can he evaluate recruits well and then pitch them? Thats the question.
