Paul Chryst added to his core of quarterbacks today when 6'1" 195 pound TraVon Chapman of Kent, OH chose the Panthers. Chapman, who is raw, but athletic and strong armed, was also offered by the likes of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois, and Cincinnati.
that's one down and 2 more to go
ReplyDeleteBut does he run track :-)
ReplyDeletechris, question. We can sign more recruits since clement and jarrett will be enrolling in spring right? scholarships from darius patton opened up and I assume burns will be too. I assume they will give burns the medical scholarship
ReplyDeleteJarrett can count as either the 2012 or 2013 class (Pitt's choice). Clement is part of the 2013 class even though he is enrolling early.
DeleteGreat news! Welcome to Pitt, TraVon!
ReplyDeletePatton leaving opens up a ship. Burns gets a medical hardship which means he'll still get a free education at Pitt but his ship won't count against the 85 total limit. So yes, both ships will be available.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Coach Chryst and staff. Keep on "just offering". Welcome to Pitt TraVon!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now let's focus on landing Foster and a slew of OLs who can at least fog a mirror. Then go 6-6 (with another trip to Birmingham, of course) with that ol' gunslinger Tino Sunseri at QB, and open the floodgates for 2014.
ReplyDeleteJust to point out your lack of knowledge, Pitt must go 7-5 to be bowl eligible this year.
DeleteImma - honestly, until he sees how Voytik is Chryst has no choice in starting Sunseri. The other two options are not what you tend to think they are.
ReplyDeleteThis Chapman pickup is a good one and congratulations to the staff.
Give Chryst credit on this one. But Joe D won't, he's too busy breaking down the Baldwin Invitational....
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Chryst has "his" first QB, (unless we're counting his semi-recruitment of Tom Savage?) but I wonder when Chapman will actually see the field? Based off all the reports, he sounds like a potential star, but extremely raw. That means a RS for 2013, when presumably the QB battle will be between Tom Savage and Chad Voytik. So fast forward to 2014, Chapman as RS Fr, versus Voytik, who will have three years at that point in the program. At the very least, its great to add the future depth, but Pitt has so many gaping holes, I hope Chryst and Co. can add some talent that could help the team next year **coughFOSTERcough**
ReplyDeleteTruthfully though, Pitt has a long road to recovery. Its definitely rebuilding time and stocking the shelves with as much talent as Pitt can get is crucial, so welcome news.
Another good pickup, on paper; he has a solid offer sheet.
ReplyDeleteNow get some guys to protect him and foster
ReplyDeleteGlad to see he committed early...
ReplyDeleteMaybe this will turn the tide in recruiting top talent since losing Dorian Johnson.
Oh... spoke too soon... another MAC recruit for OL...
I'm curious, how will the affect the rest of the recruiting process for 2013 yr. Also, there is the question about the Qb commit of the 2014 class. Hopefully, he isn't afraid of a little competition.
ReplyDeleteI like the pickups. You can't coach height and weight. The big nasty's up front is all about attitude, desire and smarts. You have to want to beat your man every play and will it to happen. No excuses.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a long way to February so there may be some changes, especially if Pitt wins 9 or more games this year. Coach Chryst just gets it done. No BS. Genuine hard worker that has a passion for success. Jump aboard the Pitt express ladies. Things are going to get fun in Pittsburgh for quite a few years. Buckle up your chinstraps cupcakes!
