Mike Young to Pitt

As I reported on twitter last night, 6'8 combo forward Mike Young of Hudson Catholic HS in Jersey City, NY has committed to the Panthers.  Young, who originally is from Pittsburgh, is generally considered a top 75-100 prospect.  He is a very good rebounder and displays good offensive skills both in the post and outside of the paint.  He even has some three point ability from time to time.  Other offers included Florida, UConn, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Xavier, and Memphis.

  2. He has received a lot of positive publicity this summer. I expect him to settle between 50-75 when all things shake out. That's fine with me. Michigan State dominates by consistently landing 4-star players.

Young is a great get. A position of need, a kid with local ties, and someone who had offers from some excellent programs.

  3. I was told by a college coach today that he expects Young to averaged between 12-14 ppg and 6-8 rpg by the time he's done. He's an excellent addition. Not a superstar, nothing fancy, but has the chance to have be a quality four year player.

  4. Young is a solid PF that could get lots of playing time as a frosh.
My only concerns would be his handlers.
    Frosh - Shady Side
    Soph - St. Benedicts
    Jr - Hudson
    Sr - St. Benedicts

  5. Great article on Steven Adams from 2010. His sister is the favorite for the gold medal in the shot put.

  6. How and the hell can't Pitt land 1 PSU defector. It would have been an ideal situation where they wouldnt have to play against there former teammates in the near future. There is a new coach in place so all positions should be up for grabs as well. Come on ! ! !

  7. I would think that any players at PSU right now wouldn't consider Pitt just like any current Pitt players wouldn't likely transfer after a few seasons to go to WVU. Of course we haven't played PSU in a long time and we may not be their "rival" anymore. But they hate us. I would think it would be new recruits we would have the best shot at.

  9. Unbelievable...
PSU former players from 1998-2012 now file an appeal..

They are all making PSU look very bad...
Not only will it hurt their current and future recruiting class... moreso than without these appeals.. it is going to start effecting who applies to PSU.. who wants to send their kid to PSU when look at the yahoos in how they act... it's all about the football.. which guess what.. that is why the coverup!!! duh..

It sad to say... not all the current 10 commits of PSU have offers from Pitt...
what the hell is Chryst waiting for...

    1. Johnson has Pitt, OSU, and Virginia Tech...

Prior to his PSU committ... it was 50/50 Pitt/PSU...
I swear.. if he picks Virginia Tech... I will be pissed.. I don't think he is picking OSU.
