Panthers add more offense

Pat Narduzzi and his staff continues to stay hot, as tonight the Panthers got a verbal commitment from 6'2" 200 pound wide receiver Juwann Winfree of Coffeyville (KS) CC.  Winfree, who played in high school at Dwight Morrow HS in Englewood, NJ, originally committed to Maryland out of high school. At that time he had offers from the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Georgia, and South Carolina. He played well as a true freshman at Maryland and caught 11 passes for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns for the season.  He was suspended for the last two games of the season for undisclosed infractions, and eventually ended up at Coffeyville where he had 55 catches for 837 yards, and 7 touchdowns.  Winfree will have three years to play two, and is expected to be a favorite to start at wide receiver next season, if Tyler Boyd goes to the NFL, as expected.

  1. Watts and Camp visiting in mid January.

I'd LOVE to get those two and along w/ Hamlin and Hudson, it would make for a tremendous class.

    Next Year:

Winfree and Flowers as the wide-outs, JC hopefully coming back, another year w/ Peterman - a potentially better O-Line w/ JJS - wow.

Plus, Hendrix and Edwards at the D-end spots along w/ the possibility of Price getting an additional 6th year and all in another year with Narduzzi's "D" - could be a special year.

And, we're only going to get better and better.

Plus now the basketball team really playing well - I now expect them to finish in the top 5...at least in the ACC now - it's good to be a Pitt fan!

  2. Good news on the football front. Chris, how about a preseason hoops wrap up prior to conference play? Thoughts on the team, future recruits, etc. I still feel like I don't know these players at all even though I'm a season ticket holder. Difficult to evaluate. Keep up the great work.

  7. Winfree back to 4 stars on rivals.

I know rankings don't mean a ton but it's nice that recruiting services are confirming what we know. : )
